First of all, My name is Patraporn Sakphukiew ( Tangmay) but American called me May. My School in Thailand is Satriwitthaya 2. I ‘m an exchange student when I was a 10th grade or M.4.  My school in the US is West Seattle high school, Seattle Washington. I think when everyone imagines about an exchange student, it will be like so cool cause you need to study abroad and far away from your natural parent and live with a host family, hang out with American friends and do whatever you want and you never do it in your country.  In my school, West Seattle high school. They have a class that is so amazing class. I enrolled in 6 classes, Graphic design, US history, Algebra2, Language art(Eng), Marine science and Beginning Art. In every class, if I or another student did not understand or confuse the teacher will always help and fix it out and make it clear for a student, they always ask me about how am I doing in the class.

Even though in Math class, it feels like boring but in here it isn’t at all. A student can share your daily life, something funny or your experiences with your Teacher.

My first day of school makes me so scared and nervous. I feel like it looks like my first day of school when I was in Kindergarten, no friend, no one to talk with. But when it passed it made me feel strong and meet new friends in class.  I joined a basketball team. It was so much fun. I want to know how different between athletic in my country and in the US. Now I know that it is completely different nothing similar. They are very working hard in practice. My suggest is “Nothing is difficult if you never try it”. My friend in school they are so kind to me we have a dinner together like 3-4 time. we love food.  we play a basketball but it not for a team it is for fun.

My Host family, they have 4 members in the house. First Amy is my host mom, Anthony is my host dad, Dule and Emerson is my host brothers. We went to many places in the first of 3 months. I ‘m so thankful that they are so kind to me. they suggest in many options that comfortable to me. We have family time together at dinner. we will talk about “What is the best part of your day and what is a hard part of your day” It made me feel relax and like I talk with my natural parent. I made an oreo cheesecake in Thanksgiving break. They really enjoy it and made me super happy!

By the way, This experience is not easy to find it no one could get the same. You need to walk over the things that you scared and not feel good. Then you will see the best way of it. The exchange student is not hard to become but it is very hard when you face any problem without your family or without any advise. I think everyone has their own talent but they don’t even know how to show it, become an exchange student is an answer. Everything that I learned from here I will apply to my future. First, in communicating with Native for business and the other experience that is not only in English I will adapt it and made it in the right way.  The last for everyone, When you think back when you were an exchange student once in your life, you will also feel very proud of yourself I promise!
